Why are balls coming to rest against or near the face of the bunker?
This largely depends on the trajectory of the golf shot entering the bunker and the size of the bunker, which affect how the ball releases toward the centre. In this instance, sand has been added, and we are waiting for moisture to help compact it. However, sand tends to dry out and become fluffy over time. Under the right conditions, bunkers can be compacted and presented to meet the required standards (refer to the picture provided).
Watering bunker sand is not considered a viable option, as golf courses face increasing pressure regarding the usage and allocation of water resources.
