What is done to control grubs and insect larvae on the greens?
In addition to general chemical treatments (See FAQ titled ‘What is done to control grubs and insect larvae on the course?’), we have used tarpaulins on greens to effectively sweat the leather jackets (crane fly larvae) out of the ground. This method has achieved good results with up to 2kg of grubs being removed from any one green. Treatment with nematodes is also available but very hit and miss at this stage when treating large areas like our greens.
