How and why did we decide to add new bunkers to the course?

To clarify, two new bunkers were added to the course this year, and three others were renovated. Adding new bunkers is part of the 10-Year Plan based on recommendations from Hawtree (see website). If and when we complete the plan the total number of bunkers will remain similar to what we originally started with ten years or so ago, between 40 and 45.

The work is carried out within the constraints of the budget set by the Management Committee, allowing us to make improvements incrementally, a year at a time. For instance, once the work planned for the 8th hole is completed (see 10-Year Plan), it will have four bunkers, the same number as before.
